Premier League fans must wait until 2025 for semi-automated offside technology (SAOT).

SAOT is already in use in the Champions League and Serie A. It uses a network of cameras to track player movements and the ball at high speeds.

Despite unanimous approval from all 20 clubs in April. However, in a meeting held this Thursday in London among league representatives, clubs were informed that testing with this technology is not yet complete and that it may not be implemented until at least the start of 2025.

The Premier League wants to thoroughly test the technology before deploying the system. These experiments are designed to eliminate any glitches.

The technology was first used in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and later transferred to UEFA competitions, including the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League, as well as the recent Euro 2024.
