Mikel Arteta has agreed a new three-year contract to remain as Arsenal manager.
The Gunners said in a statement that the 42-year-old Spaniard, who has reportedly agreed terms on a new contract with Arsenal that ties him to the club until 2027.
Both parties had been confident fresh terms would be agreed, and Arsenal will be delighted to have tied down Arteta, with the news coming just days before Sunday’s north London derby against Tottenham.
Arteta led the Gunners to the FA Cup in his first season and in the past two years they have finished second in the Premier League behind Manchester City.
Arteta made 150 appearances for Arsenal during his playing career and also captained the side.
Arsenal are currently fourth in the table after two wins and a draw and begin their Champions League campaign next week against Atalanta.
